Hubby and I went over for a drink and all you could hear were kids screaming, not to say their were no kids at the RTB but it didnt seem as if there were as many. We enjoyed our staff at the RTB.. When we went for a drink at the other hotel the bartender was not so friendly and seemed as if we were bothering her when we asked for a drink. There are two bars at the RTB in the entertainment area. The one is called the Reggae Bar which is smaller and round, the other is a larger enlongated bar where a lot of folks sit.
The entertainment area at the Clubhotel seemed larger but we didnt see it up close. Also at the Clubhotel there are two or three little shops you can go into for emergency items and gifts It all really depends on what you are looking for. I do know that the Riu Negril is newer of the two.
I can only comment on the Riu Negril because I have stayed there. I have not been to or stayed at Riu Tropical Bay.
I was very pleased with the Riu Negril. It is a beautiful resort. The rooms are BIG and nicely decorated and very clean. The resort is well maintained and very, very clean. I found absolutely nothing wrong with the beach. It wasn't rocky and I didn't find any seaweed. Compared to the beaches at the resorts that I stayed at in Montego Bay I think that there are more palm trees shade on the beaches in Negril.
Plus there are more water sports jet-ski's there too. I also have stayed at the Club Riu Hotel in Negril and loved it. Beautifull resort, big very well maintained property, great spacious room and excellent services starting at front desk and inclouding bartenders, maids and everyone else working at the resort. We met a couple on this vacation that was staying at Tropical Bay but ended up walking to the Club Riu Hotel on daily basis. This topic has been closed to new posts due to inactivity.

The staff at the Riu really are what makes it extra special. Many of the bartenders will know your name by the end of the second day.
They love going to Hotel Riu Negril not only for the vacation but to see their friends.
